SABRIENT SYSTEMS SELECTS 13 TOP PERFORMING STOCKS FOR 2012

Annual Baker’s Dozen picks highlight 7 of the 10 basic sectors

SANTA BARBARA,CA – Sabrient Systems, LLC, an independent equity research firm that specializes in alpha extraction through quantitative and qualitative analysis, announced today the release of its Baker’s Dozen, 13 top-ranked stocks that are expected to outperform their peers during the coming year.

Since inception in 2009, the Baker’s Dozen has outperformed the S&P 500 Index by an annualized average of +10%. The stock picks for 2012 include:

Seagate Technology (STX), Western Refining, Inc. (WNR), Ocwen Financial Corp. (OCN), Watson Pharmaceutical (WPI), United Therapeutics Company (UTHR), Cloud Pak Energy (CLD), Globe Specialty Metals (GSM), Dana Holding Corporation (DAN), AGCO Corporation (AGCO), DXP Enterprises (DXPE), Kronos Worldwide, Inc. (KRO), United Rentals, Inc. (URI), and Ameristar Casinos (ASCA).

“To select the Baker’s Dozen, we start with an unbiased, fundamentals-based, quantitative approach to create a short list of high-quality stocks. We then implement a qualitative review, starting with a forensic accounting analysis by Gradient Analytics, a subsidiary of Sabrient, to determine the quality of earnings. We also examine other external factors, including current news, technical charts, insider buying activity, and sector diversification,” said David Brown, Chief Market Strategist for Sabrient Systems. “The final 13 stocks are ones we believe will be among the top performers in 2012. Our selections this year were based on various statistical analytics, including current stock valuations, forward earnings outlook, as well as factors such as a company’s earnings and price momentum. As proven historically, our methodology generates stock picks that routinely outperform the S&P 500.”

In consideration for the current market conditions, Sabrient Systems, in partnership with Stutland Volatility Group, also released options strategies for each stock.

“As the market volatility continues into 2012, a diversified approach using options offers traders an appropriate strategy for both minimizing the amount of capital at risk and hedging their portfolios. Investors are always looking for unique ways to generate alpha during a down cycle, and an options overlay is a realistic solution,” said Luke Rahbari, options expert from Stutland Volatility Group.

The Baker’s Dozen stocks are selected based upon Sabrient’s quantitative ranking system and qualitative process that focuses on strong earnings growth potential and high earnings quality relative to peers. The top 13 stocks are chosen from 2,200 eligible names comprising a diverse cross-section of sectors and industries.
