Hoselton to Focus on Development and Testing of Investment Strategies

Santa Barbara, Calif., April 9 -- Sabrient Systems, LLC President Scott Brown has announced Rick Hoselton as Sabrient’s Director of Information Technology (IT).  Hoselton assumed his new position in January.

“With the ongoing expansion of our core business units comes development and testing imperatives for the accuracy, speed and security our partners and customers require in products and strategies,” said Brown. “Rick Hoselton’s expertise with all aspects of these objectives is exceptionally strong, and we are delighted to have that expertise at Sabrient.”

Sabrient is an independent equity research firm that specializes in custom strategies using quantitative modeling to rank stocks for Alpha generation, risk measurement and creation of unique indexes that are tracked by exchange-traded funds (ETFs).  Users include fund managers, registered investment advisors (RIAs), high net worth individuals, and companies that create and distribute ETFs.

Hoselton focuses on the development and testing of investment strategies that will sustain the firm’s outstanding track record. He is increasing Sabrient’s reporting capacity and refining back-testing protocols. He is replicating these upgrades at a remote site in order to enhance the security, power and back-up communications systems for the Santa Barbara, California-based staff.

Hoselton works closely with Scott Brown and Sabrient Chairman and chief strategist David Brown. His IT team includes Vishal Gupta, Ted Spradlin, and Dan Tierney.

“The volume and intricacies of the information we deal with are formidable, yet IT goals are straightforward,” said Hoselton. “We strive to convert data to information that our strategists can apply to create 'highest and best use' outcomes for Sabrient clients.

Hoselton’s professional career encompasses more than 30 years of IT as it is applied to finance, electronics, medicine, and manufacturing. His management experience includes a wide range of software development projects, most recently as a software engineer with Citadel Investment Group of Chicago.

As a partner with Telescan Incorporated in Houston, Hoselton managed custom website development for clients that included Citibank, Standard & Poor’s, American Express, Fortune, Forbes, General Electric and America Online.  He was also a partner with H & H Software of Houston.

As a senior programmer, Hoselton has designed and written a financial mathematics library. He has also written stock market analysis tools that implemented advanced algorithms, such as Fourier transforms, exponential moving averages and simplex multi-dimensional optimizations.
